A Day In London - Southbank & Covent Garden!

 photo DSC01914_zps0eba6561.jpg

Yesterday I jumped on a train and took a trip to London to see my friend, Lauren, whom I met during my first year at university. If you've ever been a student at University, particular one who lives away from home, you'll probably appreciate how quickly you make new best friends; friends that you know will last forever. I've known Lauren for just over three years now but it feels like I've known her all my life! It was such a gorgeous day and I managed to get lots of lovely photos!

We started off at Embankment and wandered across the bridge to Southbank. The view was gorgeous; Big Ben and the houses of parliament and the London Eye - I'm sure Londoners are pretty used to it, in fact some walked across the bridge without even looking at the views! We then went for lunch and cocktails at Giraffe for a proper catch-up, and it was just like old times!

I had the Giraffe burger with sweet potato chips which was so yummy! Lauren had the Falafel burger which she highly recommends!

We then went to have some pimms in one of the little outdoor bars! I didn't see what this area was called but it looked amazing - and I'm sure at night with all those little lights on it would look stunning!

We then headed to Covent Garden where the mad-hatter was having a little tea-party! He looked so amazing! It took me way to long to realise that the little mouse on the end of his tea-cup was actually real, too! How cute!

Covent Garden is famous for the wide selection of street-shows and street-performers. It's easily one of my favourite areas of London. Some of the performances are impressive and others are a little blah. We were sat at the rooftop bar of The Punch and Judy pub whilst we watched this one. The man laying down had volunteered himself for the act, which involved the man in the very questionable leggings placing a balloon between his legs and whipping it so that it popped. He also then proceeded to lay on the nails behind him... Which, if anything, was just a little strange. I wasn't overly keen on this one but he certainly gathered quite a crowd! I preferred the one I watched in my last London photo diary.

Shortly after this I headed home! It was absolutely boiling everywhere in London, there was no relief anywhere. The tubes were almost unbearable too - will there ever be air conditioning?!
